Brazilian vehicle exports grew 21.9% in January over the same month last year, according to figures released by the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) on Thursday (4). Car sales totaled 25,000 units last month. There was a fall of 35.8%, however, on the export registered in December 2020.
The same occurred with the Brazilian production of vehicles in January: it advanced over the same month of 2020, but it retreated over last December. It fell 4.6% in January compared to December, from 209.3 thousand units to 199.7 thousand. Over January 2020 it increased 4.3%.
“Despite the difficulties, it was a good number. We have said that the logistics have done an exceptional job because we still have mismatch and difficulties and we were able to produce a good number for January. It was less than December, but better than January 2020, considering all the circumstances ”, said Anfavea president, Luis Carlos Moraes. According to him, January is usually a weaker month in sales than December.
