The Port of Paranaguá (PR) was the main exporter of soybeans in Brazil in December 2021. In all, 758,800 tons were shipped in the month, down 12% compared to December 2020. The port of Santos (SP) was in second place, exporting 527.4 thousand tons in the month.
Then came Rio Grande (RS), with 439.1 thousand tons and São Luis (MA), which shipped 284.1 thousand tons.
Brazil exported 2.712 million tons in December. In 2021, the accumulated volume reached 86.108 million tons.
Soybean meal
The port of Santos (SP) was the main responsible for soybean meal exports in December 2021, shipping 710 thousand tons of the by-product. The volume is 4% higher than that exported a year earlier. Paranaguá (PR) was in second place, with 357.6 thousand tons – a decrease of 12% – and Rio Grande (RS) in third place, with 316.4 thousand, an increase of 19%.
Brazil exported 1.72 million tons of bran in the month. In the same period of the previous year, there were 944.9 thousand tons.
China
China imported 60.477 million tons of soybeans from Brazil from January to December 2021. According to data from the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), the volume is less than 1 percentage point lower than the 60.601 million tons in 2020. The country is the biggest buyer of Brazilian oilseeds.
In second place was Spain, with 3.592 million tons, 27% above 2020. The Netherlands appears in third place, with 2.887 million tons, down 11% year on year.
