The auto industry recovered, last month, the production and export levels of November 2019. The number of licensed units, however, was below that previously registered, according to the balance sheet released today (7) by the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers Automotive (Anfavea).
The report shows that domestic market demand decreased 7.1%, compared to 2019. There were 225,010 units, against 242 thousand. In the year, 1,814,470 cars were registered.
Unlike sales, production increased slightly, by 0.7%, with a total of 238.2 thousand vehicles. According to Anfavea, the volume was insufficient to serve the market.
Year-to-date, production reached 1,804,759 units, 35% less than last year. In November, 11,500 trucks, 1,700 buses and 5,000 agricultural and road machines also left the carmakers’ conveyor belts.
In a press conference, representatives from Anfavea also highlighted figures related to exports. In November, 44,007 units were sent abroad, which resulted in the best result since August 2018. The increase in the index, they explained, was due to the impoundment that has been occurring in recent months due to the pandemic of covid-19. Throughout the year, 285,925 units were exported, 28.4% less than in 2019.
The entity’s president, Luiz Carlos Moraes, said that December production is something that is not easily foreseen and highlighted some challenges that the sector faces. According to him, the lack of raw material is the most worrying, because it can mean the shutdown of the automakers.
“The risk of stoppage is very high,” he said. “This is a very difficult challenge to manage.”
In November, the job opportunities offered by the sector also worsened. At the turn of October to last month, the total number of vacancies increased from 121.4 thousand to 120.8 thousand. Moraes stated that, during the period, 1,284 employees left their positions for joining voluntary dismissal programs (POS) or were dismissed after temporary contracts were closed.
