The Port of Paranaguá will embark on Monday (14), in a single lot, 157 buses, setting a new record, with two more vehicles than in the previous departure. The operation is also highlighted for its agility. The operator takes about 10 hours to place all units inside the ship.
“In 2020, we saw shipments of this type more frequently, due to the market and the good fare conditions, space and, mainly, qualified labor. Paranaguá has a very low rate of damage and this makes all the difference when the importer chooses a port ”, explains the Director of Operations for Portos do Paraná, Luiz Teixeira.
In addition to this, three large loads of public transport vehicles were carried out this year. In July, 130 buses were loaded onto a single ship. In October, another 110, and in November, 155 buses were loaded, which was, until then, the largest shipment ever carried out in a single batch, in the port of Paraná.
The 552 vehicles went to Boma, in the Republic of Congo, and Luanda, in Angola. The buses are part of a public transport project in African countries. Two more large-scale shipments are already scheduled for January and February 2021.
OPERATION – The owner of the ship Maestro Universe, in the operation of this second (14), was the company Wasa. The operation is being carried out by the Marcon Group.
According to Aldemar Marques Moreira, foreman operations manager, the Marcon group has been working with the receipt and boarding of buses for 15 years at the Port of Paranaguá. “The main advantages are space, ease of access and cost. Today, the port of Paraná is one of the best options for boarding buses in Brazil ”, he explains.
The operator’s service, known as foreman, comprises all the preparation of the cargo until the shipboard, all the logistics on land. “It is since arriving at the external area, registering with the port authority’s systems, assisting dispatchers, positioning the buses in the internal yard, and coordinating the ushers who take the vehicles to the ship’s entrance,” explains Aldemar.
MANUFACTURER – In this lot, 57 vehicles are from Marcopolo, manufactured in Rio Grande do Sul and 100 are manufactured by the company Caio Induscar, in Botucatu, São Paulo.
“The choice for Porto is made by the importing customer, but Caio is very satisfied with the previous operation, which also went to Angola. The boarding, travel and delivery of the units were successful ”, says the company.
