The modality is a logistical alternative to reduce transport costs and relieve road transport.
In the months of January and February this year, the ports of Antonina and Paranaguá handled 730,136 tons of cabotage cargo, which is navigation carried out between ports or points in the same country. The number is 51.11% higher than the same period in 2023, in which 483,173 tons were handled.
“Cabotage is a logistical alternative for reducing transport costs and relieving road transport. That’s why we seek to encourage cabotage in the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, applying rates with up to 50% discount compared to other tables”, highlighted the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia. Another advantage of the modality is that any product can be transported in this process.
The discounts mentioned by the CEO are on Waterway Access Infrastructure tariffs; Docking Infrastructure; and Land Infrastructure, depending on the merchandise transported and the type of vessel, among other variables.
