TCP Terminal Shed 218 (ex – Dolphins) is said to be ready for inauguration

It has been informed that the berth 218, which was constructed over the mooring dolphins previously used to serve RORO and PCC ships, is now ready. The port informed that it will be officially inaugurated tomorrow the 22nd by Governor who will come to Paranagua together with other authorities. We considered it a bit earlier for inauguration; however, we understand the authorities are rushing to do it now, as soon they will step out of the office, as a new governor will take over.

Therefore this inaugurations is likely a since of accomplishments.

The pier is not fully ready to operate full containers ships by using shore Portainers cranes, because there is no rails fixed yet. TCP terminal informed that is fixing the rails but could not precise when they will be ready. It seems this job should take one or two moths more.

FYI the pier 218 has just been dredged to 12.30 metres. However, it has not been authorized yet by naval authority who demands to carry out official soundings in the ground prior authorize this depth.

The Pilots just informed that for the moment will consider the official draft 9, 0 to 9, 50 m (high tide) which was the official draft of ex-dolphins.

The port has not informed yet whether will authorize vessels to operate along pier 218 prior rails fixture and official draft to 12.30 metres are confirmed.
