Port of Paranaguá has unprecedented operation for vehicles

The Port of Paranaguá made this Thursday (12) an unprecedented operation of embarkation and disembarkation of vehicles. In the cradle 205 were simultaneously moved 2,512 cars, 1,910 of them for export and another 602 for import. The novelty is that the operation was carried out in a berth berth that is usually used for operations with sugar.

According to the managing director of Ports Administration of Paranaguá and Antonina (Appa), Lourenço Fregonese, this represents the capacity that Porto has to operate different types of cargo. “We have been concerned to keep up with changes in the domestic and international markets. Therefore, the port has been prepared to receive products of the most varied nature, which has attracted more and more operators, “he explained.

THE VESSEL – The Shanghai Highway, docked for the operation, drew attention to its structure. With approximately 180 meters long and 32 meters wide, it now goes to Argentina.

NEW LAYOUT – In recent years, the port of Paranaguá has reorganized its port infrastructure, in line with the new market demands. This has made more and more operators choose the place to export and import high value-added products.

One of the measures adopted was the demolition of old warehouses, used only until the 1980s, giving rise to new yards for general cargo handling.

With this, the size of the area for vehicle storage was increased by 36%, which represents 30 thousand square meters of new yards. Currently, up to 3,500 vehicles can be stored at the Port of Paranaguá.

REFERENCE – With modernization and expansion reforms in recent years, the Port of Paranaguá has become one of the main options in the country for the handling of general cargo with high added value. Currently, it is the second Brazilian port in operations with vehicles, exporting more than 100 thousand per year. Among the main brands operating through Paranaguá are the international manufacturers Audi, BMW, Renault, Volkswagen and Volvo.

According to the Director of Operations of Appa, Luiz Teixeira, in addition to the capacity to receive and store a large number of cars, the Port of Paranaguá has presented a quality service, which generates safety to anyone who wants to export or import. “Among the main advantages highlighted by those who choose the port of Paraná is the ability to operate many vehicles at the same time, with the lowest rate of damage among other Brazilian ports,” he said.
