Even with the problems registered on the BR-277 – which has been generating concern in the productive sector in Paraná -, the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina affirmed, this Wednesday (15/3), that the movement continues at a steady pace normal at terminals. Data from the port administration show that there was a 6% increase in exports in the first two months of the year. In February alone, the increase was 2%. In the first two months of 2023, 5,343,918 tons of cargo were exported. In the same period last year, there were 5,040,889 tons. Considering only February, the registered increase was 2%: 2,893,147 tons in 2023 and 2,832,258 tons in 2022. The increase was motivated by the increase in corn exports. Following the national trend – Brazil is on the way to being the main exporter of the product – cereal shipments through the Port of Paranaguá rose 243% in the first two months. There were 1,397,325 tons. In 2022, there had been only 406,889 tons. In February alone, 189,872 tons of corn were exported in 2023, against 192,422 tons in 2022. China’s demand for Brazilian corn, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, stock and price are factors that justify this increase.
