The deadline for the public to send comments and suggestions regarding the Nova Ferroeste public notice ends on July 15th. The document, with the minutes of the contract that will be auctioned, can be accessed on the websites of Ferroeste and Nova Ferroeste.
The public notice consists of five contracts signed with the Ministry of Infrastructure: the concession contract from the 1980s, which connects Guarapuava to Dourados (MS) and another four authorization contracts, with the following connections: Dourados to Maracaju, Cascavel to Foz do Iguaçu , Cascavel to Chapecó and Guarapuava to Paranaguá.
The State of Paraná will make the onerous assignment of these contracts, that is, they will be transferred to the private sector for 99 years. The company or consortium that wins the auction will carry out the works and explore the network during this period.
The project has also gone through official public hearings and the population’s contributions are being analyzed by Nova Ferroeste’s licensing agency, the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama). The public notice will only be officially published with the release of the prior license.
