The Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Services Committee of the Chamber of Deputies holds a public hearing, today the 9th , to discuss the bill 8535/17, which determines that the National Water Transportation Agency (Antaq) to regulates the Pilotage Service, including fixing of prices and inspection of the service. The proposal, by Mr Julio Lopes (PP-RJ), is under consideration in the committee.
Today, there are 22 Pilotage Service zones in Brazil with 523 Pilots. The Pilotage Service is in force in Brazil since 1808 and is currently regulated by the Water Transportation Safety Law (9,357 / 97) and by Decree 2,596 / 98.
The hearing will take place in plenary five, today the 9th at 9:30 hours. it was invited to take part and discuss on the matter the following persons: Mario Povia (director general of Antaq); Vice Admiral Roberto Gondim Carneiro da Cunha (Director of Ports and Coasts of the Navy); Marco Ferraz (president of the Brazilian Association of Sea Cruisers – Clia Brazil), Gustavo Martins (president of the National Council of Pilotage Unions – Conapra), and Otávio Fragoso (National Federation of Pilotage Services – Phenapraticos).
